Pediatric Sedation Dentistry & Nitrous Oxide in South Florida

Your Child's Comfort and Safety Is Our Top Priority
For many patients, especially children, a dental chair is far from relaxing and dental treatments can cause a lot of anxiety. Sitting still in a dental chair is especially hard for kids! With the help of sedation dentistry, your child can feel at ease while receiving the dental care that they need. By providing your child with good dental experiences at an early age, you can help them feel comfortable visiting their dentist on a regular basis as they get older.
Safe, Effective Nitrous Oxide and Pediatric Dental Sedation Services
Sedation dentistry for children is a safe, effective way to help children who may experience anxiety during dental appointments or who need to undergo a longer or more complex procedure. Our highly qualified team takes into account the individual needs of each patient to provide the appropriate level of care at each appointment.
Oral Conscious Sedation and IV Sedation Dentistry for Children
For patients who experience higher levels of anxiety or for those undergoing more complex dental procedures, we offer additional sedation dentistry options. These methods provide a deeper level of sedation, ensuring that patients are comfortable and anxiety-free throughout their treatment. Our team carefully evaluates each patient’s health history and treatment needs to recommend the most appropriate sedation option.
We partner with American Pediatric Sedation Center, a state-of-the-art dental office offering sedation services to pediatric patients. When combined, pediatric dentistry and sedation have many advantages. At American Pediatric Sedation Center, we practice sedation dentistry with a board certified pediatric dentist who has a sedation license and a physician anesthesiologist when necessary. The goal of sedation is to have all of the child’s dental treatment completed in one appointment, with the child being relaxed and having little to no recollection of the procedure itself. In this way, the patient can have a positive experience while visiting the dentist and furthermore, since treatment can be completed in one visit, it allows treatment to be completed in a timely manner so that cavities don’t progress.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation for Children
At American Pediatric Dental Group, we offer nitrous oxide as a sedation option to give your child a relaxing dental experience. Nitrous oxide is effective for both children and adults and is administered through a facial mask. Once the mask is placed over your child’s nose, the effects of sedation will begin almost immediately. With nitrous oxide, your child can communicate with their dentist when needed, but will not be startled by surrounding sounds or smells during treatment. Sedation will begin to wear away as soon as the mask is removed.
Commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that’s inhaled through a mask placed over the nose. It helps patients relax during their dental treatment, remaining fully awake and responsive. Nitrous oxide’s effects wear off quickly once the mask is removed, making it a safe and effective option for reducing dental anxiety and discomfort.
A Safe and Controlled Environment
The safety and well-being of our patients are our top priorities. All sedation methods are administered by our highly trained and experienced dental professionals and patients are monitored closely throughout every moment of the procedure. We adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring that sedation dentistry is administered effectively and safely.
Ensuring Comfort for Every Patient
We believe that a child’s worry or anxiety should never stand in the way of receiving necessary dental care. Nitrous oxide and sedation dentistry are part of our commitment to making dental visits a positive experience for everyone. By offering these options, we aim to alleviate any concerns and ensure that our patients receive the care they need. We want every one of our patients to think of the dentist’s office as a place where they can feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe.
Consultation and Communication
Before administering any form of sedation, we conduct a thorough consultation with you to understand the patient’s medical history, discuss any anxieties, and explain the sedation process. We encourage questions and strive to ensure that patients and caregivers are fully informed and comfortable with the chosen sedation method.
At American Pediatric Dental Group, we’re dedicated to providing a compassionate, patient-focused approach to pediatric dental care. Nitrous oxide and sedation dentistry are just two of the many ways we tailor our services to meet the needs of each patient. If your child often exhibits anxiety during dental appointments or you’re interested in learning more about sedation dentistry options, our team is here to guide you and ensure a comfortable and anxiety-free dental experience.
